While you are away from home, your Home Assistant instance is restarted. Now your Person entity has state not_home with source tracker_gps. After some time, both stationary trackers show state not_home.Since the stationary trackers have priority, you are considered home. tracker_gps shows state not_home, but the other two trackers show state home (they may not have yet updated due to their consider_home setting see device_tracker). You’re at home, all three devices show state home - the state of your Person entity will be home with source tracker_router or tracker_ble, whichever was most recently updated.Let’s say, for example, that you have three trackers: tracker_gps, tracker_router and tracker_ble. Otherwise, the latest tracker with state not_home will be used.If there are trackers of type gps, then the most recently updated tracker will be used.If there are stationary trackers (non-GPS trackers, e.g., a router or Bluetooth device tracker) presenting the state home, the tracker most recently updated will be used. When multiple device trackers are used, the state of person will be determined in this order: The state updates of a connected device tracker will set the state of the person. ![]() Either way, you can visualize the resultant linear GPX segment layers with the extensive styling options available in QGIS.The person integration allows connecting device tracker entities to one or more person entities. Furthermore, it is possible to add the layer as a temporary layer or to write the layer to a file. In order to manage the available attributes, I also provide options to (i) ignore attributes and to (ii) choose the most appropriate data type. The new plugin simply assembles linear geometries between successive track points and inserts the attributes of the latter track point. As I could not find one, I developed a QGIS plugin that creates line segments from the track points. Therefore, I searched for an alternative. ![]() In my opinion, it is visually more appealing to visualize a trajectory as a line, especially if multiple attributes should be drawn next to each other. This reader has an option to include the attributes with the “track_points”-layer, which results in a point layer. I recommended using the open-source tool QGIS that offers a native GPX reader. To overcome this missing feature, I have implemented the QGIS plugin “ GPX Segment Importer ” to visualize attributes as line segments between the track points.Ī coworker working on the quality assessment of mobile communication networks asked me if there is an easy offline possibility to visualize the attributes of a GPX trajectory avoiding the use of online services (like ShowGPX) due to privacy concerns. Visualizing them as line segments has not been possible so far. If the GPX data contains attributes associated to the track points, only the track point option can be used to read and visualize those attributes. This includes the import of track points as a point dataset and the import of the whole track as a single linestring. The native GPS eXchange Format (GPX) file importer for the open-source geo-information software QGIS features multiple options to create vector layers.
